Eckhart Tolle, the best-selling author of The Power of Now, has a voice as soothing as a bubble bath, his soft German accent lulling you (and his live audience) into a state of conscious comfort. Best to be totally at ease for this three-hour lecture, as your mind will be asked to come to grips with some intensely abstract concepts: Translating the presence into language. Energy fields. Drinking water as a beautiful experience. Hmm. Tolle’s got a way of leading your mind’s eye along so that lines like “the’me’ will pop like a soap bubble, pop, pop, pop” actually make sense by the time you get to them. This guy is no kook, but an astute observer of human interaction and thought processes. And all this talk of “is-ness” and “such-ness” will make a whole lot of sense once you pick up what Tolle is putting down. Or maybe you’re the kook.
